Properties and Usage:

Trimellitic anhydride (CAS 552-30-7) is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with strong irritation. It is widely used in the production of chemical products such as polyester resins, coatings, plasticizers, insulation materials and fibers. It is also used as an intermediate in the synthesis of drugs and pesticides.

1. Coating and resin production

Trimellitic anhydride is used to produce polyester resins, epoxy resins and alkyd resins. These resins have excellent chemical resistance, heat resistance and weather resistance.

2. Plasticizer production

Trimellitic anhydride is used to synthesize plasticizers such as tris (2-ethylhexyl) trimellitate (TOTM). These plasticizers have excellent high temperature resistance, low volatility and anti-aging properties.

3. Insulating materials

Resins prepared from trimellitic anhydride are used as insulating materials in electrical and electronic equipment. They have excellent heat resistance and dielectric properties and are suitable for insulating parts in high-voltage cables, transformers and motors.

4. Polyimide resin manufacturing

Trimellitic anhydride is a key monomer in the production of polyimide resin. This resin has excellent high temperature resistance and mechanical strength and is widely used in aerospace, electronics, semiconductor manufacturing and other fields that need to work under extreme conditions.

5. Pharmaceutical and pesticide intermediates

In the field of medicine and pesticides, trimellitic anhydride is used as an intermediate to synthesize compounds with trimellitic acid structure.
