Properties and Usage:
Methyl orthosilicate (CAS 681-84-5) is a colorless, transparent liquid with strong hydrophilicity and chemical reactivity.
1. Surface modification
Methyl orthosilicate improves the adhesion, weather resistance and corrosion resistance of materials by chemically reacting with the surface in the surface treatment of coatings, plastics, rubber, textiles, and inorganic materials such as metals, glass, and ceramics.
2. Adhesives and sealants
Methyl orthosilicate's excellent bonding properties and water resistance, heat resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance make it an ideal raw material for manufacturing high-strength adhesives and sealants.
3. Modified silicone rubber
In the modification of silicone rubber, methyl orthosilicate can improve its high temperature resistance, mechanical properties and elasticity, and improve the weather resistance and anti-aging properties of silicone rubber.
4. Glass fiber reinforced plastics
As a coupling agent, methyl orthosilicate can enhance the bonding between glass fiber and plastic matrix, thereby improving the mechanical properties of composite materials.
5. Silicone resin synthesis
Methyl orthosilicate can form a strong silicone structure through hydrolysis reaction, improving the performance of the resin. These resins have excellent heat resistance and chemical resistance and are used in coatings, electronic materials, sealing materials and other fields.
6. Electronic products and optoelectronic materials
In the electronics industry, methyl orthosilicate is used to manufacture protective layers, circuit boards and surface treatment of optoelectronic materials. In the production of products such as liquid crystal displays and solar cells, it provides excellent protection and anti-hydrolysis ability.
7. Water treatment and anti-corrosion
Methyl orthosilicate can effectively improve the water resistance and durability of cement or concrete. In anti-corrosion applications, it forms a protective film on the metal surface to prevent corrosion and deposits, and is used in buildings and industrial facilities.
Storage conditions: Storage precautions Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The warehouse temperature should not exceed 37°C. Keep the container sealed. Store separately from oxidants, alcohols, etc. and avoid mixing. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. Mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to sparks are prohibited. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and appropriate containment materials
Packing: This product is packed in 25kg drums, and it can also be customized according to customers' requirements
