Properties and Usage:
Tetrapropylammonium hydroxide (CAS 4499-86-9) is a strongly alkaline quaternary ammonium salt with excellent hydrophilicity and lipophilicity. It is mainly used in organic synthesis, surfactants, catalytic reactions and water treatment.
1. The core component of surfactants
Tetrapropylammonium hydroxide is used in cleaners, cosmetics and detergents to reduce the surface tension between water and oil and enhance the cleaning effect.
2. Catalyst in organic synthesis and catalytic reactions
In organic synthesis, tetrapropylammonium hydroxide is used as a catalyst to accelerate the reaction and improve the purity of the product.
3. Grease remover in water treatment
Used in wastewater treatment, it can effectively remove grease and organic pollutants and improve water quality.
4. Synthetic agent of molecular sieves and zeolites
In catalyst synthesis, tetrapropylammonium hydroxide is used for structural guidance of molecular sieves and zeolites to improve catalytic efficiency.
5. Application of bactericidal and preservative agents
It has bactericidal effects and is often used in disinfectants and preservatives to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi.
6. Sustained-release drug carrier
Tetrapropylammonium hydroxide can be used for sustained-release of drugs and to regulate the duration of drug efficacy.
