Sodium hexametaphosphate (CAS 10124-56-8), referred to as SHMP, is a colorless, transparent or white crystalline powder with excellent chelating, dispersing, stabilizing and water softening capabilities.

Main applications

1. Food industry

Moisturizer and stabilizer: SHMP, as a food additive, helps prevent fat oxidation in meat and prolongs shelf life.

Emulsifier: In the production process of soybean paste and soy sauce, SHMP helps prevent discoloration, increase viscosity and shorten the fermentation cycle.

Ice cream and beverages: When used in ice cream, it can improve the expansion capacity, enhance the emulsification effect and prevent the paste from being damaged; in juice drinks, it can increase the juice yield and inhibit the decomposition of vitamin C.

2. Water treatment

Water softener: SHMP can effectively prevent the formation of scale by calcium and magnesium ions in water, and is used in industrial boilers and piping systems to ensure their normal operation.

Preservative: In the circulating cooling water system, SHMP, as a preservative, can protect pipes and equipment from corrosion and extend their service life.
