Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Ester (CAPE) has a variety of biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor effects.

Antioxidant effect: The CAPE structure contains 0-dihydroxy (catechol) phenyl structure, which is very effective in scavenging free radicals. Because it has two ortho-position phenolic hydroxyl groups and a high electron density on the benzene ring, it is prone to auto-oxidation reactions and thus exhibits significant antioxidant capacity. Studies have shown that the 0-dihydroxybenzene ring structure plays an important role in the antioxidant effect of flavonoids.

Anti-inflammatory effect: CAPE can inhibit the inflammatory response caused by tumor factors, even at very low concentrations. CAPE is involved in inducing natural cell death and has cytotoxic effects on malignant diseased tissues.

Anti-tumor effect: CAPE can inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells and has a certain poisoning effect on cancer cells. Research shows that CAPE has specific killing power against tumor cells and can significantly improve lesions caused by tumor factors. It exerts anti-tumor effects by inducing tumor cell apoptosis and inhibiting cell proliferation.
