Properties and Usage:

N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (CAS 538-75-0), referred to as DCC, is a highly efficient chemical reagent whose main function is to promote chemical reactions and improve reaction efficiency.

1. Dehydration reagent

DCC, as a dehydration reagent, promotes the reaction of carboxyl and amino groups of amino acids to form peptide bonds in peptide synthesis, and is an indispensable reagent for synthesizing peptide chains.

2. Catalyst

DCC is used as a catalyst to promote the reaction of carboxylic acids with alcohols or amines in esterification and amidation reactions. By removing water, DCC accelerates these reactions.

3. Cross-linking agent

In materials science, DCC, as a cross-linking agent, can enhance the cross-linking reaction between polymers, thereby improving the stability and mechanical strength of the material, and is widely used in the research and development of polymers and composite materials.

4. Solid-phase synthesis and laboratory research

DCC is used to promote the coupling reaction of amino acids in solid-phase synthesis (especially solid-phase peptide synthesis, SPPS).
