Para-aminobenzoic acid (CAS 150-13-0), referred to as PABA, is commonly used in medicine, cosmetics, industrial chemistry and agriculture.

1. Farmaceutsko polje

Vitamin-like substances: PABA is a non-essential component of the vitamin B complex and participates in cell metabolism, especially the synthesis of folic acid.

Pharmaceutical raw materials: As a key intermediate in the production of local anesthetics (such as benzocaine) and sulfonamide antibiotics, it is used in a variety of pharmaceutical preparations.

Skin care: PABA derivatives (such as PABA potassium salt) are used to treat photosensitive dermatitis and vitiligo, and have repair and protective effects.

2. Cosmetics and sunscreens

PABA was once widely used in sunscreens due to its ability to absorb UVB ultraviolet rays. Although modern sunscreens have gradually replaced it, it is still a representative of classic sunscreen ingredients.

3. Industrial and chemical synthesis

Dye industry: PABA is an important intermediate for dyes such as azo dyes and is used in a variety of synthetic processes.
