Glyoxylic acid (CAS 298-12-4) is a highly reactive organic acid with the dual properties of acid and aldehyde. It is easily soluble in water and can react with a variety of metals (except stainless steel). It is highly corrosive and reductive. It is stable in the air but easily deliquescent.
