ALPHA-PINENE (CAS 2437-95-8) is a natural terpenoid with a bicyclic structure, usually extracted from pine oil and other plant essential oils. It appears as a colourless, transparent liquid and has a high biological activity and reaction diversity.

Antifungal effects

ALPHA-PINENE has an inhibitory effect on fungi, especially on Candida albicans. It significantly inhibits fungal growth by interfering with fungal cell wall synthesis (e.g., synthesis of chitin and polysaccharides) and inhibiting ergosterol synthesis in the cell membrane. The mechanism may be by altering the structure of the fungal cell membrane, leading to its destabilisation and death.

Antialergický účinek

ALPHA-PINENE has some inhibitory effects on allergic rhinitis. It reduces allergic symptoms by modulating the immune response, reducing the expression of IL-4 in splenic lymphocytes, and decreasing the levels of IgE, TNF-α and inflammatory proteins in the nasal mucosa. In addition, it further alleviates allergic reactions by inhibiting RIP2, IKK-β and NF-κB signalling pathways.

ALPHA-PINENE has shown effective activity in the treatment of gastric ulcers. Studies have shown that ALPHA-PINENE can effectively reduce the symptoms of gastric ulcers and promote ulcer healing in mice. Its mechanism of action may be related to the protective effect on gastric mucosa and inhibition of gastric acid secretion.

Anti-tumour effects

ALPHA-PINENE has shown significant activity in anti-tumour studies. It enhances tumour inhibition by promoting apoptosis and altering cell morphology (e.g. chromatin condensation, nuclear fragmentation). Studies have shown that ALPHA-PINENE is effective in enhancing anti-tumour effects when combined with paclitaxel, and its mechanism of action may be related to cell cycle regulation and activation of apoptotic pathways.
