UV-9 is a broad-spectrum UV absorber, also known as BP-3, that has the appearance of a light yellow or white crystalline powder. It is mainly suitable for a variety of plastics, such as polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, polymethylmethacrylate, unsaturated polyester, ABS resin and cellulose resin. The maximum absorption wavelength range of UV-9 is 280-340 nanometers, and the general dosage is 0.1-1.5%. It will not decompose at 200°C and has good thermal stability. Since UV-9 absorbs almost no visible light, it is suitable for light-colored transparent products and can be used in paints and synthetic rubber.

As a broad-spectrum ultraviolet absorber, UV-9 has the advantages of high absorption rate, non-toxicity, and no teratogenic effect. It can absorb UV-A and UV-B, so it is widely used in sunscreen ointments, creams, lotions, and other sunscreen cosmetics. In addition, UV-9 can also be used as an anti-discoloration agent for products that change color due to photosensitivity. Due to its good compatibility with many plastics and resins, it is often used in fields such as PVC and unsaturated polyester.
