Applications:

 

1. Catalyst in organic synthesis:

Friedel-Crafts reaction: BF3 etherate is often used as a catalyst in Friedel-Crafts alkylation and acylation reactions to promote the formation of carbon-carbon bonds.

Polymerization: Catalyst for the polymerization of olefins and other monomers to produce various polymers.

Esterification and transesterification: Used to catalyze esterification and transesterification reactions
