Basic Green 1, also known as brilliant green, is a dye belonging to the alkaline triphenylmethane class. It has the appearance of a green sandy substance with golden luster. Basic Green 1 can be widely used in the dyeing of textiles, paper and other materials.

Basic Green 1 is easily soluble in cold and hot water and is green after dissolution. It also appears green after dissolving in ethanol, but yellow in concentrated sulfuric acid and returns to green after dilution. Adding sodium hydroxide to its aqueous solution will produce a light green precipitate.

Properties and Usage:

1. Textile dyeing: Basic Green 1 is mainly used for dyeing hemp, silk, acrylic fabrics and straw products, and the dyeing effect is bright and long-lasting. When dyeing acrylic, it is suitable for high-temperature dyeing (120℃) and the color light does not change. When it is dyed with cationic blue dye, it can achieve a fruit green effect.

2. Paper dyeing: Basic Green 1 can be used for paper dyeing, providing a stable green hue, and is widely used in the manufacture of various paper products.

3. Color lake manufacturing: This dye is also used to manufacture color lakes, providing a high-quality pigment source in chemical production.

4. Coloring of other materials: Alkaline Green 1 is suitable for coloring leather, bamboo and wood products, grass products, etc.

5. Medical use: In the medical field, Alkaline Green 1 is used as an external disinfectant, but it is not commonly used now.

6. Laboratory use: As an acid-base indicator, Alkaline Green 1 is effective between pH values ​​of 0.0 (yellow) and 2.6 (green).
