Solvent Applications
With its unique amphiphilic molecular structure (logP=0.82), 3-chloro-1-propanol (CAS 627-30-5) exhibits broad-spectrum solubility for polar solvents (e.g., DMF, acetone) and non-polar systems (aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons). In organic synthesis such as catalytic hydrogenation and Grignard reaction, its dielectric constant (ε=22.3) can effectively regulate the polarity of the reaction medium and enhance the reaction efficiency. In industrial practice, this solvent accounts for 12-15% of the dosage in the electronic grade photoresist diluent, and can achieve more than 98% recovery rate through azeotropic distillation (boiling point of 160 ℃).
Key intermediates for drug synthesis
- lPreparation of clopidogrel precursor: through SN2 nucleophilic substitution reaction, its chlorine atom is condensed with 2-chlorophenylglycine methyl ester to construct the core structure of thienopyridine of antiplatelet drug, and the purity of the final product is ≥99.5% (HPLC detection)
- lNelfinavir synthesis: as a key building block for the introduction of the hydroxypropyl side chain at the C-3 position in the synthetic pathway of HIV protease inhibitors to achieve high enantioselectivity of the chiral center (ee value >99%)
- lFunctionalized derivatization: reacted with phosgene to form chloroformic acid-3-chloropropyl ester (92% yield), the intermediate was further used in the preparation of slow-release drug carriers
Synthesis of industrial chemicals
- lSurfactant: anionic surfactant (critical micelle concentration CMC=0.8mmol/L) generated by sulfuric acid esterification reaction, applied to textile printing and dyeing auxiliaries and tertiary oil recovery system
- lEngineering plastics modification: as a plasticizer precursor, grafted to polyvinyl chloride chain segments through ester exchange reaction, which can increase the elongation at break of the material by 40% (ASTM D638 test)
- lFunctional chemicals: as alkylation reagent in ionic liquid synthesis, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazole chloride salt ([BMIM]Cl) prepared with conductivity up to 12mS/cm (25°C)
The compound needs to be stored in an inert atmosphere (oxygen content <50ppm), it is recommended to be used with equipment made of 304L stainless steel or PTFE, and its application in the pharmaceutical field needs to comply with the ICH Q3C Residual Solvents Guidelines (PDE limit 7.1mg/day).
Storage conditions: Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry place. Keep away from oxidants.
Packing: This product is packed in 25kg drums, and it can also be customized according to customers' requirements
