Crystal Cat Litter with Visual pH Indication
Traditional silica gel cat litter is mainly used to absorb urine, control odor, and help keep the litter box dry. Our pH-indicating crystal cat litter adds a simple visual monitoring function to these basic benefits.
The main material is porous silica gel. It absorbs urine and helps maintain a relatively dry litter surface. A pH-sensitive indicator incorporated into the product responds to absorbed urine and produces a visible color change.
This gives pet owners an easy way to observe urine pH changes without changing their normal litter box routine.
Crystal Silica Gel Cat Litter

Three visible color responses
The indicator responds to the acidity or alkalinity of cat urine.
Yellow
Acidic urine. A yellow response indicates more acidic urine.
Green
Mildly acidic / typical urine. Green is the typical response of the current indicator system.
Blue-Green
Alkaline urine. A blue-green response indicates more alkaline urine.

Foconsci is based in Zaozhuang, Shandong Province, China. When we began chemical production in 2008, our business mainly focused on sodium silicate and inorganic silica materials. Over the years, this product range expanded into silica gel desiccants and other silica-based products supplied to customers in different markets.
Long before silica gel became a familiar cat litter material, its porous structure and strong moisture adsorption made it useful for industrial moisture control. Through our work with silica materials, we found that silica gel was also being used in European and American markets as an absorbent bedding material for pets.
In 2014, Foconsci established a dedicated silica gel cat litter production base in Zaozhuang. By controlling particle size and other product properties, silica gel can be produced for the different requirements of desiccants, industrial applications, and crystal cat litter.
Since establishing the cat litter production base, we have expanded into multiple automated production lines with an annual cat litter production capacity of more than 8,000 tons. Our range includes standard crystal cat litter, fine-grain silica cat litter, clumping crystal cat litter, and functional products for different markets.
We later combined this established crystal litter system with a pH-sensitive indicator to develop pH-indicating silica gel cat litter. Today, our silica gel desiccants and silica gel cat litter products are supplied to customers in markets around the world.
How to Use pH-Indicating Crystal Cat Litter
- Pour the litter into a clean and dry litter box to a depth of approximately 3.5–4 cm.
- Remove feces and fully saturated litter regularly.
- When a large proportion has become saturated or discolored, replace it with fresh litter.
- For multiple cats, shorten the replacement interval. Keep the litter box dry and well ventilated.
Actual consumption depends on the cat, urine volume, litter box size, environment, and cleaning habits.
