What is DOP?

DOP is the abbreviation for the plasticizer Dioctyl Phthalate, also known as DEHP or Bis(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate.

It is a general-purpose primary plasticizer for PVC and rubber processing. It appears as a colorless, nearly odorless oily liquid, and is one of the most widely used plasticizers in industrial manufacturing.

DOP is produced by esterification of phthalic anhydride with 2-ethylhexanol. It offers excellent compatibility with PVC, high plasticizing efficiency, low volatility, and good electrical insulation properties.
