Foconsci’s Dimethyl Silicone Fluid (PDMS) is a clear silicone fluid available in different viscosity grades from 2 to 100,000 mm²/s at 25°C. The viscosity can be selected according to the application:

  • 2–20 mm²/s: These low-viscosity grades spread easily and are suitable for personal care formulations, light lubrication, surface treatment and applications that require a low-viscosity silicone fluid.
  • 50–1,000 mm²/s: These grades are commonly used in lubricants, release agents, polishes, surface treatments, defoaming applications and electrical insulating fluids.
  • 2,000–100,000 mm²/s: These higher-viscosity grades form a heavier and more lasting film. They are suitable for polishes, release and lubrication applications, and other formulations that require higher viscosity and better surface coverage.

Applications of Dimethyl Silicone Fluid (PDMS)

Mold Release and Surface Treatment: 2–1,000 cSt PDMS grades are commonly used for mold release and surface treatment. Lower-viscosity grades spread more easily over metal, rubber and plastic surfaces, while higher viscosities provide a heavier silicone film.

Lubrication and Damping: PDMS can be used as a lubricant and mechanical fluid over a wide viscosity range. Grades from 50 to 1,000 cSt are suitable for general lubrication, while 2,000–100,000 cSt grades can be selected for damping, cushioning and applications that require a thicker fluid film.

Defoaming: 50–1,000 cSt PDMS can be used as a silicone component in defoaming applications. For water-based systems, silicone emulsions or formulated silicone antifoams are usually easier to disperse than pure silicone oil.

Polishes and Water-Repellent Products: 50–60,000 cSt PDMS can be used in automotive, furniture, metal, leather and household polishes. Lower viscosities spread and wipe more easily, while higher-viscosity grades give a heavier film and can provide higher gloss and longer surface coverage.

Personal Care: Low-viscosity PDMS such as 2–20 cSt spread easily and can be used in selected personal care formulations. Higher-viscosity cosmetic-grade PDMS can also be selected when a smoother, more substantial skin or hair feel is required.

Packaging and Storage

Our Dimethyl Silicone Fluid is packed in 200 kg drums and 1,000 kg IBCs.

Keep the container closed to prevent dust, water and other materials from entering the oil. Store away from strong oxidizing materials and direct heat.
