What is Cerium Dioxide?
Cerium Dioxide, also known as Ceria or Cerium Oxide, is a rare earth metal oxide used primarily as a precision polishing agent and industrial catalyst. It appears as a pale yellow to white powder, insoluble in water and alkali, slightly soluble in acid.
Ceria is produced by calcination of cerium oxalate or cerium hydroxide. Its unique combination of mechanical abrasion and chemical reactivity with silica makes it the preferred polishing compound in the glass and optics industry.
Our Cerium Dioxide is supplied in multiple purity grades and particle sizes to suit different application requirements.
- 99% (3N):Suitable for general industrial applications such as glass decolorization, ceramic additives, and catalyst support.
- 99.9% (3N5) / 99.99% (4N):Recommended for precision polishing of optical lenses, LCD flat panel displays, automotive glass, and semiconductor wafers, where particle consistency and surface finish quality are critical.
- 99.999% (5N):Required for high-end applications such as solid oxide fuel cell electrolytes and advanced electronic ceramics, where trace impurities affect performance.
