Foconsci’s CMIT is an isothiazolinone antimicrobial used to control bacteria, yeast and mold in water-based products.

It is mainly used in industrial preservation systems for paints, polymer dispersions, adhesives, metalworking fluids, construction chemicals and process water.

CMIT is also commonly combined with Methylisothiazolinone (MIT). Our CMIT/MIT preservatives use the 2 actives together at 3:1 ratio. Contact our sales team to get a quote.

Applications of CMIT

Paints and Coatings: CMIT controls bacterial and fungal growth in water-based paints and coatings during storage.

Polymer Dispersions and Adhesives: CMIT protects latex, polymer dispersions, glues and other water-based formulations from microbial spoilage.

Metalworking Fluids: CMIT helps control microbial growth in water-containing metalworking emulsions and process fluids.

Construction Chemicals: CMIT can preserve water-based concrete additives, filler suspensions and other construction formulations that are prone to bacterial or fungal contamination.

Industrial Water Systems: CMIT can control microorganisms in process water, wash water and selected industrial water-treatment systems.

Biocide Formulations: CMIT also serves as an active ingredient for preparing industrial preservative and antimicrobial formulations.
