Foconsci’s 2-Octyl-2H-Isothiazol-3-One (OIT) is an isothiazolinone fungicide mainly used to protect dried coatings and other finished materials from mold and fungal growth.

Compared with preservatives mainly used to protect the product inside the container, OIT is especially suited to dry-film protection. It stays in the finished coating, sealant, plastic, leather or wood treatment and helps prevent mold growth during use.

Applications of OIT

Paints and Coatings: OIT protects dried paint and coating films from mold and fungal growth. It is used in interior and exterior coatings, wood coatings and other systems exposed to humidity.

Sealants, Caulks and Adhesives: OIT helps prevent mold growth on cured sealants, caulks, grouts and adhesive films, especially in damp or humid environments.

Plastics and Building Materials: OIT can be added to polymer and construction-material systems that need long-term surface protection against fungal growth.

Leather and Textiles: OIT helps protect leather, coated fabrics and textile materials from mildew during storage and use.

Wood Protection: OIT is used in wood-preservative systems to control fungi and mold on treated wood and wood products.

Packaging and Storage

Our 2-Octyl-2H-Isothiazol-3-One is packed in 25 kg or 200 kg plastic drum.

Keep the container tightly closed and protect the product from direct sunlight. OIT 98% can crystallize at lower temperatures. If crystallization occurs during storage, the product should be brought back to a suitable handling temperature before use.
